Dr. Emily Romanson(AKA DR. Emily)
Clinical Psychologist | Pronouns: She, Her, Hers
I am registered as a clinical psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario to provide services for children, adolescents, and families. I obtained my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus on child and adolescent clinical psychology at the University of Windsor. I completed my predoctoral residency at the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Through clinical practica, residency, and employment positions, I have worked with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings, including hospitals (outpatient, day-treatment, and inpatient programs), community mental health centres, private practice, and university mental health services. I have provided assessment, treatment, and consultation services for a range of mental health difficulties and disorders.
I am currently providing intervention services for children and adolescents in relation to concerns with:
- Anxiety and mood difficulties/disorders
- Emotion regulation
- Attachment and family relationships
- Developmental trauma
- Self-esteem
- Body image
- Life transitions
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Intellectual and learning disorders
In my clinical work, I use an evidence-based, integrative, and collaborative approach that is tailored to each individual and draws from various theoretical orientations and therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, interpersonal and attachment-based approaches , and play-based therapy. I strive to support children and adolescents in the process of fostering psychological insight, hope, resiliency, and meaningful change in the context of therapy and in their lives. I believe that cultivating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is fundamental to these processes and am honoured to be a part of that journey for children, adolescents, and their families.
I enjoy spending time in nature, hiking, doing yoga, and being with my family and friends.
