Dr. Catalina Sarmiento
(AKA DR. CATALINA)
Clinical Psychologist | Pronouns: She, Her, Hers
I am registered as a clinical psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. I completed my graduate education (MSc and PhD) at the University of Western Ontario and my residency training at Hamilton Health Sciences. Through clinical practica and residency, I have worked in different settings, including hospitals (inpatient and outpatient), regional organizations, community mental health, university settings, and private practice.
I provide psychological services to children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a range of difficulties including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Behavioural and emotional regulation
- Parenting challenges
- Life transitions and changes
I believe in the importance of establishing a therapeutic relationship and providing individuals with a safe, empathic, and collaborative environment to work towards their goals and values.
My theoretical orientation is integrative, meaning that I use different evidence-based techniques from attachment-, emotion-, and cognitive behavioural-focused therapies. I strive to consider and collaborate with support systems, such as parents, schools, health care professionals, and other key individuals.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family – including my dog (Maya).
