Dr. Lara Genik
(AKA Dr. Lara)

Clinical Psychologist | Pronouns: She, Her, Hers

I am a registered clinical psychologist in the province of Ontario. I completed my post-secondary education at the University of Guelph, including a Masters and PhD degree in the Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology program. Through clinical practica, residency, and employment positions I have worked in a variety of settings including school boards, hospitals, private practice, university settings, and community mental health. I am passionate about clinical psychology, teaching, and related fields of research, and have both taught undergraduate and graduate levels and have presented for various organizations and national and international conferences about related topics.

Currently, I provide psychological assessment, intervention and consultation services to children and adolescents in the following areas:

  • Anxiety and Mood
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Developmental Trauma
  • Behavioural and Emotional Regulation
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Body Focused Repetitive Behaviours
  • Developmental Disabilities

I use an engaging, evidence-based, formulation-driven, client-centered, strength-based and developmental approach in my work, collaborating closely with parents, schools, and health professionals. My theoretical orientation is integrated, with a primary focus on cognitive behavioural therapy and third wave orientation and therapy approaches (e.g., acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy-informed). In addition to providing clinical services to children and adolescents, I provide supervision of graduate-level students who are training to become clinical psychologists.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, trying out new recipes, and being out in nature – especially with my animals!ecipes, and being out in nature – especially with my animals!
