Dr. Sabrina Chiarella

Clinical Psychologist | Pronouns: She, Her, Hers

I am a tri-lingual clinical Psychologist registered with both the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario and the College of Psychologists of Quebec. I received my Master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Concordia University in Montreal. I completed my residency training with the London Clinical Psychology Resident Consortium, where I worked at the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI), Victoria/Children’s Hospital and University Hospital. I have had additional training at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (Montréal), The Jewish General Hospital (Montréal), as well as regional community settings within the Greater Montreal and Toronto areas. Currently, I hold a clinical psychology position at Vanier Children’s Mental Wellness in London, Ontario, which specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with trauma, behavioural, mood, anxiety, and neurodevelopmental challenges. I also hold an adjunct faculty position at the University of Western Ontario, which includes the training of clinical psychology graduate students and an associate professor position at Huron University College, where I teach undergraduate courses in developmental psychology (Infancy).

My experience has allowed for extensive training working with children and adolescents. I have proficiencies in cognitive-behavioural therapy, as well as a variety of additional evidence-based intervention techniques, including collaborative problem solving, dialectic behavioural therapy, behaviour management training, and integrative methods. My past therapeutic clinical work specialized in preschoolers (ages 6 and under) and their families using modified CBT approaches, as well as behaviour management training.

Currently, I specialize in providing psychological assessment services in both French and English to children, adolescents, and their families in the following areas:

  • Neurodevelopmental Disorders including:
    • Specific Learning Disorders
    • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
    • Intellectual Disabilities
    • Communication Disorders
  • Giftedness
  • Anxiety/Mood Disorders
  • Obsessive-compulsive Disorders
  • Behavioural Disorders
  • Trauma

I have always had a passion for understanding the human mind, and how learning about oneself and others can aid in our own self-understanding, and our social well-being. To be able to be but a small steppingstone towards fostering a child’s psychological well-being has always been incredibly fulfilling to me. I love the work I get to do and the wonderful families I get to meet.

On my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, travelling, and I especially enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
